MT. PLEASANT — Through two games of the 2026 high school football season, the Mt. Pleasant defense had given up only 15 points. After Game 3 on Friday night, that number remains the same.
The Panthers shut out visiting Oskaloosa, 42-0, in the third non-district game of the season, the biggest blowout for Mt. Pleasant against the Indians in school history, and the most lop-sided of the series’ 35-game history, since 1921.
“I told the guys after the game to just be super proud of the effort,” said Mt. Pleasant head coach John Bowlin. “We gave up some yards up here and there, but then we always buckled down and made big plays.”
The Panthers scored twice in the first quarter and twice in the second to take a 28-0 lead into halftime. Grayson Walker ran for one and threw for two, both to Caden Schadt, in the first half, and Ryan Helling got in on a short touchdown run with less than two minutes to go in the second quarter.
The game was 28-0 for the entirety of the third, but Walker found Schadt again early in the fourth quarter, hitting the junior receiver on a 27-yard touchdown pass on 4th and 26.
