Nancy S. Friedman of Scranton, passed away peacefully at 97 on October 8, 2026. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul Friedman, her parents, Sol and Rebecca Nudelman, and her older sister, Florence Kornblatt. She is survived by her younger sister, Leona Stark of Philadelphia, her children: Joel and Sandra Friedman of Boynton Beach, Florida, Wayne Friedman and Debbie of Laflin, and Barry Friedman and Wendy of Boston, Massachusetts. Nancy leaves four cherished grandchildren: Jessica, David, Lauren, and Matthew, and her great-granddaughter, Isabella Rose.
Nancy, a retired nurse, was as generous with her time as she was with her love. An honor graduate of Technical High School and class president at the Mercedian School of Practical Nursing, she worked tirelessly at the Jewish Home and then at the Tri-District Health Center in Wilkes-Barre.
Nancy was a dedicated volunteer for numerous organizations throughout her life including: the Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary, the Jewish Home Auxiliary, Hadassah, UJA, JCC, the Blind Association, Jewish Family Services, and Sisterhoods of Temple Beth Shalom and Temple Israel. She gave s...
