Nebraska Leaders Urge Caution After Worker Injury on Interstate 80

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen, along with leaders from the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) and the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT), has issued a strong reminder to drivers to exercise caution on the roads following a recent incident that injured an NDOT worker. The accident occurred east of Lexington on Interstate 80, where a worker assisting with traffic control was struck from behind by a semi-truck while aiding at the scene of a previous crash. Governor Pillen emphasized the importance of reduced speeds, avoiding distractions like cell phone use, and staying attentive, especially during the busy summer travel season and upcoming events such as back-to-school and sports games in Lincoln. "When you see cones, flashing lights, or signs indicating roadside activity, slow down and move over. No one should be on their phone while driving," he urged.
