KENNEWICK, Wash. — The Benton-Franklin Council of Governments (BFCOG) unveiled its 2027-2030 Transportation Improvement Program during its open house and public meeting today.
The four-year plan covers 50 projects, costing more than $116 million, spanning road improvements, bridge replacements, pedestrian and bicycle facilities and safety upgrades in communities across Benton and Franklin Counties.
Six local projects were newly added. All are scheduled to start in 2027.
Those projects are Hanks Road Phase II and Oak Street CID Bridge Replacement in Benton County, Columbia Park Bridge Replacement and East Columbia Park Bicycle Improvements Phase 2 in Kennewick, and Road 44 FCID Canal Crossing and South Road 68 Pavement Preservation in Pasco.
BFCOG said the four-year plan only includes projects with secured funding. Most of the local project money comes from federal sources. BFCOG reported about $35.8 million was federal, $20.7 million was state and $17.7 million was local.
State highway work made up a large share of the plan. BFCOG reports WSDOT South Central has five programmed projects in the region, including asphalt and chip seal preservation across Benton and Franklin counties ...
