New Hampshire foliage map: Colors emerging in northern NH, weeks away for southern areas

Fall began with Tuesday’s autumnal equinox, and New Hampshire is starting to see the leaves change color.

Moderate foliage color is visible in the northern part of the state. Colors are expected to continue developing, with peak foliage approaching in the Upper Valley and Lakes Region.

In southern New Hampshire, the tops of trees and plants near wetter areas are beginning to turn red and yellow.

Coos County is expected to reach peak foliage in late September. Colder nights this week could help usher in the height of the season for the region.

The Monadnock and Lakes regions are expected to peak in early October. The Seacoast could see peak colors from late October to early November, depending on how close an area is to the coast.

Weather over the past few months has generally been favorable for a good foliage season.
