Zach Ertz played for Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni for six games during the 2021 NFL season before he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals.
Now, Ertz will play some more games under Sirianni as the Eagles brought the veteran tight end back to the team after starter Dallas Goedert suffered a knee injury that will keep him sidelined for several weeks.
During a local radio appearance, Sirianni expressed excitement about the addition of Ertz to the roster.
“Just excitement to bring Zach back. Zach, I obviously got to spend time with him early in my time here, not the entire season, but [I] really like the person. Obviously, the player is legendary for everything that he’s done and I always thought he was a good teammate, good person,” Sirianni said.
“I’ve kept in touch with him and we’ve obviously played him multiple times since he’s left here. So being able to chat with him before and after games is always fun. Excited to have him back.”
Ertz expressed similar excitement about his return to Philadelphia after five years away from the city.
