The Mountain Home High School Navy Junior ROTC Precision Air Rifle team kicked off Week 1 of the 2026 National Precision Air Rifle League in a tough virtual matchup, falling 2329.8–2163.6 to Eldorado MCJROTC out of Albuquerque, N.M.
Competing in the league’s JROTC Distinguished Division, Mountain Home faced off against Eldorado in the season's opening round of randomly assigned virtual competitions. The national league utilizes decimal scoring across a 60-shot standing air rifle course, with each team’s top four individual shooter totals combining for the final score.
Karhys Herbert led the way for Mountain Home with an impressive team-high score of 558.6. Rounding out the scoring lineup for the Bomber marksmanship team were Aspen Douglas, Aaron Hale and Aldyn Buterbaugh (526.2). Eldorado, coached by James Koerber in the JROTC Champions Division, held the advantage behind match-leader Jamie Spoonamore’s 594.0 performance.
Coached by Chief Jason M. Williams, the local cadets continue to build on technical discipline and team camaraderie as they balance national virtual league competition with top-tier regional invitationals.
