–No injuries were reported after an SUV collided with a semi in the rural Titonka area Sunday afternoon.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Alyssa Lyn Berkland of Titonka was traveling northbound in a 2023 GMC Acadia around 3:30 PM Sunday.
The accident report states that Berkland came upon a semi-trailer, driven by 51-year-old Douglas Janssen of Titonka, that was attempting to turn right near 370th Street. The semi, needing extra room to conduct the wide turn, had its blinker on and had shifted into the left lane to begin the turn when Berkland attempted to get past on the right side of the road.
Berkland collided with the passenger side of the semi along the front driver side of her vehicle. Neither driver reported any injuries as the accident report states each was wearing a seatbelt at the time.
Damage to Berkland’s vehicle was estimated at $5,000, while damage to the semi was estimated at $10,000.
