GRAND FORKS — For Cathy Dub, the most gratifying aspect of her work as the new CEO and president of the North Dakota Mill and Elevator is “definitely leading the team that’s here,” she said.
“It’s a truly, very dedicated, special team — and the culture of the mill. Just its history, and its purpose to the state of North Dakota, is really a defining thing for me.”

Dub took over as CEO and president of the North Dakota Mill and Elevator on July 4, replacing Vance Taylor, who served in that capacity for 26 years. It stands as the longest tenure of any leader in the mill’s 104-year history.
Dub was one of four finalists — and the only woman — for the position, she said. It’s “somewhat unique” for a woman to hold a post like this one.
“I will point out that the largest miller in the United States, Ardent Mills, recently named a woman to lead their company, so I’m not alone. We are seeing more women within those executive roles in the industry, but I would definitely say it is a more male-dominated industry, for sure.”
