Norwalk volleyball took down Indianola 3-1 Tuesday after pulling away in the last two sets.
This was only the second home match of the season for the Warriors.
“It’s always a different atmosphere playing at 9 a.m. versus playing at 7 p.m. in front of a home crowd,” said Norwalk head coach John Fulton. “We always tell the girls to embrace those five set matches and the night games, because that’s what it’s going to take to get to state.”
The opening set was back and forth until the Warriors opened up a 12-8 lead thanks to a 6-1 run. Indianola, however, went on a 6-1 run of their own after taking a timeout to take the lead back.
The set once again went back and forth after the two runs as neither team was able to gain a two-point lead for 10 straight points. Indianola took a 23-20 lead late in the set, and they fended off a Norwalk run to win the set 25-23.
Neither team took control in the second set as it was tied at every point from 10 to 15. Indianola was finally able to score back-to-back points to take a 17-15 lead and force a Norwalk timeout.
