Nucor Announces Price Reduction for Hot-Rolled Steel Coils to $890 per Ton
In a recent update, Nucor Corporation has decreased its list price for hot-rolled (HR) steel coils to $890 per short ton, marking a $10 reduction from the previous week. The company's weekly consumer spot price (CSP) for HR coils, which had remained steady at $900 per ton for the past two weeks, now reflects this decline. A month ago, the price was $910 per ton.
Additionally, the base price for Nucor's joint venture subsidiary, California Steel Industries (CSI), has been adjusted downward to $950 per ton from $970, representing a $20 decrease over four weeks.
Nucor reports that lead times of three to five weeks are still available, and customers are encouraged to coordinate with their district sales managers for current availability. All spot transactions will include published extras.
Market analysis by SMU indicates that July 29 spot prices for HR steel ranged from $780 to $900 per ton, with an average of $840. Over the past week, the HRC index has decreased by $5, and it has declined by $40 over the last month. Updated indices will be released tomorrow evening.
