Fall fashion is flirting with the past. This fall, romance is creeping back into the wardrobe — and H&M’s first Autumn 2026 drop makes a convincing case for going all in.
Unveiled during H&M’s fashion week presentation in London, H&M&YOU&I, creatively directed by legendary fashion imagemaker Nick Knight, the collection takes its cues from historical romance, reworking Victorian-inspired silhouettes for a decidedly less buttoned-up era. Think high-neck blouses and sweeping skirts, corseted waists and extravagant ruffles, all rendered in powdery hues of ivory, ecru, and classic cream, with black adding contrast. The effect is ornate without feeling precious — especially when those softer pieces meet the collection’s tougher leather and denim.
That tension is what makes the whole thing feel particularly right for fall. A frothy lace dress gets infinitely cooler under a biker jacket; an elaborate blouse suddenly works for daytime with jeans; and corsetry no longer requires committing to the full period-piece fantasy. Even t...
