Obituary: Jerome Francis Ruddy, aged 88, of Clarks Summit and former resident of North Scranton's High Works area, passed away on Wednesday afternoon at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center in Scranton. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Judith Payne Ruddy.
Born in Scranton to the late Francis and Belinda Mills Ruddy, Jerome graduated from Holy Rosary High School in 1955. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 1955, serving proudly in Germany from 1955 to 1957.
Jerome dedicated three decades of his career to Fitchburg Coated Products. After retiring, he pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a cowboy, relocating his family to Lenoxville, PA, where he enjoyed horseback riding and country living. In 2005, Jerome and his wife Judy returned to Clarks Summit, trading his saddle for golf clubs. He was an avid golfer, often participating in the Irish-American Golf League, and shared many memorable rounds with his close friend Joe Ruddy. Whether on the golf course or tending his backyard fairway, Jerome found joy in both pursuits.
