The Town of Ocean City will invest $250,000 into Diakonia’s new Supportive Living Campus, to be built on a parcel of land along Route 611.
During Tuesday’s work session, the City Council voted unanimously to give $250,000 to Diakonia’s supportive living campus capital campaign. The $250,000 donation, officials say, will be divided into $50,000 payments over a five-year period, beginning in fiscal year 2028.
“Ocean City has been part of
Diakonia’s story from the beginning,” Diakonia’s development director, Amanda Shick, told city leaders this week. “We would like for the town to be part of the next chapter.”
By “Supportive Living,” the nonprofit group means a centralized
facility that brings all the infrastructure and services together.
Currently, Diakonia’s housing and support services are dispersed across multiple locations in West Ocean City, creating challenges for both the nonprofit and its clients. Officials say their new approach will allow Diakonia to serve more people in one location.
