The 90-minute film “You’re Dating a Narcissist!” — co-written by Ocean View resident Ann Marie Allison, who described it as “a comedy at its heart” — will be shown at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes.
The topic of the movie, starring Marisa Tomei, is familiar to Allison who, years ago, dated a narcissist — but she emphasized this week that it wasn’t her husband, whom she called “a gem.”
The painful, confusing relationship happened, Allison said, when she was in her 20s and a graduate student studying psychology at the University of Maryland. She had moved from Georgia to College Park, was new to the area and met a man who, she said, “swept me off my feet.”
“He was the perfect guy at first. My parents liked him. My friends liked him. It was a whirlwind relationship. At four months, I had been traveling for the summer between my two years of graduate school. I was visiting my cousin in Italy, and he came to Italy to visit me and he proposed. It was such a crazy romance.
