If you think that technology and older workers are always at odds with each other, think again. The arrival of artificial intelligence has allowed many of us to fall back on the presumption that older workers just can’t keep up with AI, but many of them are more enthusiastic about the technology than their younger counterparts.
Data from CWI Works , in a survey conducted by Ipsos, shows that 76% of all U.S. adults agree that there are many assumptions about older workers being less comfortable with new technology. Despite this, 87% of this segment of the 55+ population are at least somewhat comfortable navigating the technology. About 49% state that they are very or extremely comfortable doing so. We all know what they say about assumptions and resorting to them. It is counterproductive to operate on these assumptions and perpetuate bias against their ranks, instead of gathering actual data and assessing the skills of these workers before making employment decisions.
