For the first time this fall season, all four OPP area football teams played on the same night.
Friday night saw all Steele County football teams play and also saw two other Owatonna teams play earlier in the day. Owatonna, Medford, and Blooming Prairie Hayfield football were all on the road along with Owatonna volleyball while NRHEG football and Owatonna girls tennis were at home.
FOOTBALL
The Owatonna Huskies football team had their first road action of the season since week one, as it traveled to New Prague to take on the Trojans.
It was New Prague's homecoming game, but the Trojans were unable to overcome the Huskies, losing 41-14. The Huskies scored 13 points right away in the first quarter and took a 20-7 lead at halftime.
The Huskies had some mistakes in the second half, but they were able to hold New Prague to seven points once again in the half and scored 21 more points. Owatonna scored six touchdowns on offense, with four of them being through the air and two of them on the ground.
The win puts the Huskies at 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in Section 1AAAAA play. They will have their homecoming game next week against the Rochester John Marshall Rockets, a team that is winless ...
