Urban Village plans a mixed-use residential and commercial redevelopment of Energy Plaza
The Omaha Public Power District's Board of Directors voted 8-0 Thursday evening to approve the sale of its former downtown headquarters to Urban Village.
The property, Energy Plaza at 444 S. 16th St., will be sold for $13,250,875. Urban Village is a local developer planning a mixed-use residential and commercial project at the site.
Following the board's approval, Urban Village can immediately begin its due diligence. The sale is expected to close in April 2027.
OPPD has been transitioning out of Energy Plaza as it modernizes its administrative workspace. The utility now leases space in the Blue Cross Blue Shield building at 1919 Aksarben Drive.
OPPD spokesperson Jodi Baker said renovating the former headquarters to meet the utility's current needs would not have been cost-effective.
