Paducah Tilghman graduate Carter transitions from high school stardom to competing in the SEC with Kentucky's football team. Last December, Carter achieved a career milestone at Kroger Field, scoring two touchdowns and accumulating over 170 yards, earning the State Finals MVP as Paducah Tilghman secured the 4A State Championship.
Now, he returns to Kroger Field, this time representing Kentucky. "The last time I played here, it was a dream come true," Carter shared with NBC affiliate WLEX-TV. "I achieved one of my goals, and now I'm eager to accomplish more, make plays, and fulfill the player I’ve aspired to be since childhood."
Fans had their first look at Carter during Kentucky's Fan Day, which featured an open practice. Transitioning from high school to SEC competition has been challenging, especially with the increased pace, but Carter is adapting and aiming to find his place on the team.
"I've learned the plays thoroughly now, so I can just focus on playing and being myself," he stated.
The Wildcats are set to kick off the season on August 30 against Toledo, marking Carter's debut in college football at Kroger Field.
