Panama Moves to Deregister 17 Ships Listed Under U.S. Sanctions

The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) announced on Monday that it is initiating the cancellation of registration for 17 ships listed under U.S. sanctions by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). In a statement, the AMP emphasized its enhanced oversight measures to prevent the registration of entities flagged by sanctions, following recent actions that involved a Panamanian company, an individual citizen, and 17 vessels currently registered under Panama's flag that appeared on OFAC's sanctions list.
