Piedmont Players Theatre to Host Indie Folk Band Honey Magpie on August 16 SALISBURY — The Norvell stage will be energized by the soulful sounds of Honey Magpie this Saturday, August 16, at 7 p.m., as part of the theatre's concert series. Fronted by singer-songwriters Rachael Hurwitz and Pippa Hoover, Honey Magpie quickly gained recognition after winning the band contest at the 2015 Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival, shortly after their formation. Their musical style has drawn favorable comparisons to all-female folk ensembles such as I’m With Her. The band’s sound is a compelling mix of pop, bluegrass, and traditional string music, culminating in their debut album released in 2017.
