Pistons hold annual media day as Jalen Duren’s holdout looms large
DETROIT, Mich. (WNEM) - One of the biggest storylines in Basketball coming into today’s Media Day for the Detroit Pistons revolved around Jalen Duren.
The Pistons center has yet to sign an extension with the team and today, Duren did not appear at Media Day and isn’t expected to be at the start of training camp.
Pistons President of Basketball Operations Trajan Langdon spoke on Duren’s holdout and where the organization stands with JD.
“He has until Thursday to make a decision, and we will be excited to have him in regardless of what decision he does make,” said Langdon. “He was a huge reason for our success these last two seasons. Had a tremendous season individually last year, as well. We believe he will do the same thing this year upcoming and are excited to have him back when he gets back. We’ll integrate him and he’s going to have a fantastic season regardless of his decision.”
As is with every year, there’s plenty of new faces for the Pistons this season including John Collins and Isaiah Joe.
The hope is the new guys can spread the floor more for Cade and be veteran voices to lead the group.
