Pleebo, Maryland County – August 7, 2025 — The Pleebo Health Center has inaugurated a newly enlarged Outpatient Department (OPD), marking a pivotal step in improving healthcare accessibility for residents in southeastern Liberia. The expansion aims to elevate service quality and efficiency for thousands in one of Maryland County's most densely populated regions.
The Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony, held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, was attended by community members, healthcare professionals, and local officials to celebrate this milestone. Dr. Shadrach K. Gono, the health center's resident physician, expressed gratitude to the government and international donors, describing the project as a vital commitment to saving lives.
Funding and Cost
Mr. Garrison Sayor, the facility's Administrator, announced that the expansion cost approximately $15,329.90. Funding was primarily sourced from international partners and donors, covering 81% of the costs, with the Liberian government contributing the remaining 19% from its budget.
