Ploughman Cider celebrates 10 years with events, limited cider release
Ploughman Cider is marking its 10th anniversary with events across Pennsylvania through the end of 2026, following a spring frost that cut the Mid-Atlantic region’s typical apple harvest by half or more.
The Adams County cidery produces ciders and perries exclusively with fruit grown at Three Springs Fruit Farm, where the Wenk family has farmed for more than 200 years. Apple varieties are grown specifically for cidermaking, and Ploughman’s offerings change based on the farm’s seasonal production.
Ploughman bottled its first cider Dec. 2, 2016, after the family ordered its first custom-budded cider trees in 2013 and planted them in 2015. The company later opened a taproom in Gettysburg in 2019 and opened Pip’s in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood in late 2025.
The anniversary schedule begins with the Feast of Johnny Appleseed at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at Three Springs Fruit Farm in Gardners, Pennsylvania. The farm-to-table dinner will include produce from Three Springs and other local farms, an orchard tour and cider pairings.
