PLP Sets Clear Candidate Selection Rules for Upcoming Elections
The Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Has Established Candidate Guidelines On August 1, 2025, PLP Chairman Fred Mitchell publicly announced new regulations for prospective candidates. In a voice note, he clarified that these rules pertain to nominations in districts where the Free National Movement (FNM) holds seats or where current PLP Members of Parliament (MPs) have indicated they will not seek re-election. Mitchell emphasized that no individual is officially endorsed by the party at this stage. He reiterated that only the party leader, Philip Davis, and himself, as chair, are authorized to speak on behalf of the PLP. He stated that aspiring candidates must be registered PLP members committed to adhering to the party’s discipline and regulations.
