Pokémon TCG's 30th Celebration set has had a somewhat tumultuous release for many fans, with launch day seeing scalpers descend on retailers, products disappearing almost immediately, and sealed boxes quickly resurfacing online at significant markups.
Collectors have also complained about bots swallowing up online stock and inconsistent availability between stores, while the upcoming Binder Collection was pushed to December in the United States. There has been one unexpected bright side, for buyers at least. Despite the difficulty of finding sealed products at retail, prices for individual 30th Celebration cards have been dropping dramatically since the set officially launched on September 16.
Collectors have described the market as a "race to the bottom," with plentiful pulls and a flood of sellers helping drive even several highly sought-after cards downward. That trend extends all the way to the bottom of the set, where one card has already fallen to an almost comically low price.
