Polish authorities have launched an international manhunt for Marcin Pióro, the CEO of currency exchange platform Cinkciarz.pl (also known as Conotoxia), following the issuance of a European arrest warrant on charges of fraud involving approximately $28 million. The Poznan Regional Prosecutor's Office announced that a court approved his detention in absentia, and a 30-day pre-trial detention order was issued. Pióro, who has been outside Poland since investigations commenced last October, is accused of orchestrating a scheme that caused clients to lose over 112 million zloty, with more than 7,000 complaints from individuals unable to recover their funds. The case has expanded to include other company executives, with some already detained. Authorities anticipate requesting Interpol to issue a red notice, potentially leading to his arrest abroad. Pióro has denied the allegations, claiming the case is a media fabrication, and has expressed confidence in handling the situation. The investigation continues as legal procedures for extradition and further inquiries unfold.
