PORTAGE COUNTY — The Portage County Public Library has a full slate of October activities planned, including mahjong, technology help, a used book sale and Halloween-themed events for kids.

A new “Tiles and Tea — Mahjong for Beginners” program will be offered at the Plover Branch at 1 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 8, 15, 22 and 29. The weekly program is open to people who want to learn the game or get some practice, with refreshments served while they play.

The Rosholt Branch will hold a book sale Oct. 15-22, with gently used books, DVDs and other items available at discounted prices.

For those who need a little help with their phones, computers or other technology, the library will offer one-on-one Tech Time sessions at two branches. The Plover Branch will hold Tech Time at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 20, while the Rosholt Branch will offer the program at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 28.
