Portage County schedules prescription drug take-back events in October

PORTAGE COUNTY — Residents can dispose of unwanted or expired medications at five free prescription drug take-back events scheduled throughout Portage County in October.

The fall collection events will be held in Rosholt, Amherst, Junction City, Stevens Point and Almond from Oct. 19-24.

Residents are encouraged to bring unused, unwanted or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications in their original containers. Patient names should be removed or covered, but the medication’s identity must remain visible.

The following collection events are scheduled:

Monday, Oct. 19: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Rosholt Village Hall in Rosholt.

Wednesday, Oct. 21: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jensen Center in Amherst.

Thursday, Oct. 22: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Village Park Lodge in Junction City.

Saturday, Oct. 24: 8 a.m. to noon at the Lincoln Center in Stevens Point.

Saturday, Oct. 24: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Community Center in Almond.

Accepted medications include pills, capsules, syrups, salves and creams.
