FORKS — Fast and furious football, Forks style.

Bubba Hernandez-Stansbury returned the opening kickoff 85 yards to paydirt, Forks recovered the onside kick and Lane Helvey found Cashtien Barajas streaking down the left sideline for a 53-yard touchdown reception on the Spartans’ first offensive play in a 50-12 rout of East Jefferson on Friday night at Spartan Stadium.

Fifteen points scored on one offensive play from scrimmage in 23 seconds of game time joined what is becoming a growing list of Forks’ (3-0) lightning burst scoring sprees, including 35 points in the second quarter against Columbia (White Salmon) and three TDs in 29 seconds against Hoquiam last week.

“We have expectations on how we should play and so it shouldn’t be a surprise,” coach Trevor Highfield said. “Here’s what we expect. These guys have been together for years, and this senior class can’t say enough about the commitment that was made from spring ball to today.”
