A comprehensive plan helps a community anticipate growth instead of reacting to it.
It connects long-term vision with land use, infrastructure, housing, transportation, economic development, parks, facilities, and implementation.
A strong comprehensive plan is more than a required process. It turns a community’s vision into locally grounded decisions about growth, investment, infrastructure, housing, mobility, natural resources, economic development, and community character, while accounting for applicable state and regional frameworks.
Turn the Local Vision into Strategic Action
The planning process should begin with the community’s goals, desired growth pattern, and long term priorities. State, county, watershed, transportation, utility, and regional guidance can help inform decision making, but the plan’s central purpose remains translating local values into clear direction for growth and public investment.
