SALISBURY — The City Council will consider an ordinance amendment to allow general retail in rural residential zoning and the purchase of a bomb alert K-9 at their Sept. 15 meeting.
Planning Manager Victoria Bailiff will present changes to three chapters of the Land Development Ordinance to allow agricultural general retail on rural residential zoning. Brian Bauk proposed the amendment.
The ordinance change allows general retail of specifically agricultural products up to 2,000 square feet rural residential zoned properties over five acres. The change includes environmental protections for pest, weed and disease control products.
The amendment originally went to the Technical Review Committee (TRC) on May 21 and was denied with request for detail on items to be sold. The TRC recommended approval on the second review on June 18. The Planning Board reviewed the amendment and recommended approval on July 14.
The City Council will hold a public comment period about the amendment before considering approval.
