It has been a busy month for Princess Alexandra of Hanover. Just days after announcing her engagement to longtime boyfriend Ben-Sylvester Strautmann, the 27-year-old Monégasque royal shared a photograph of herself on Instagram wearing a very special family heirloom: an archival Givenchy gown that once belonged to her late grandmother, Grace Kelly. “Yellow mood in archival Givenchy,” she wrote in the caption.
Covered in glittering embellishments, the floor-length, canary yellow gown features a scoop neckline and flouncy hem, both classic style elements for the time it was made. Princess Grace previously wore the dress to the wedding of the future King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía of Spain in 1962. Princess Alexandra didn’t specify for which event she stepped out in this look, which she completed with gold jewelry and a black clutch.
This is not the first time Princess Alexandra has reached into her grandmother’s archives.
