Tucked away in the corners of Alice, Texas, along cornfields and dusty roads stand comic stores with hidden magic. With characters like Peter Parker, Clark Kent and Steve Rogers heroically displayed with splashes of color across the pages, a young boy found a sense of safety in the galaxies beyond his own universe. Today, that artist uses those stories and comics to create art for hundreds to experience.
Using a blend of collage techniques, felt and varying creative processes, Houston artist Curtis M. Gannon creates collage art to expound on themes of time, space and the impact of digital technology in today’s world. After pursuing a graduate degree from San Diego State University, Gannon now pursues art through various exhibitions, one soon to be revealed at Texas A&M’s Wright Gallery on Monday, Sept. 21.
For Gannon, all these roads lead back to where his passion for art stemmed from.
