Rapid City Transit System Hosts Public Workshops on Micro Transit Feasibility Study
Two sessions set for October 8 as RTS looks at whether app-based, curb-to-curb service could fill gaps left by fixed bus routes.
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Rapid City Transit System is asking residents to help shape the future of public transportation in the city, hosting two public workshops next week on a micro transit feasibility study.
The sessions are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8. The first runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Milo Barber Transportation Center, 333 Sixth St. The second runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at General Beadle Elementary School.
Residents who can’t attend in person can also weigh in through an online survey available now through Oct. 19 at rtsgomicro.com.
The feasibility study is designed to analyze current ridership patterns, assess community needs, identify gaps in service, and develop recommendations for a possible demand-based micro transit service, according to RTS.
“Micro transit is a technology-enabled shared ride service that uses smaller vehicles such as vans or minibuses to provide flexible routing within specific areas of the community,” said Megan Gould, RTS Manager.
