7 hours ago (GIF courtesy of GIPHY // NBA) Raptors sign Kawhi Leonard to lofty two-year extension Less than a week after officially acquiring Kawhi Leonard from the Los Angeles Clippers, the Toronto Raptors have signed him to a two-year, $115 million extension, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania first reported Tuesday.
Since Leonard is entering his age-36 season, and his current deal only had one more year — a player option — beyond 2026-27, the deal could only be two years, and it won’t start until next year with a player option attached the final season, Charania notes.
Barring another unforeseen trade, it appears that Leonard will be ending his career with the Toronto Raptors over a decade after helping the franchise win their first title back in 2018-19. The Clippers traded Leonard to Toronto in the offseason for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick plus two first-round picks.
