A “Local View” column Sept. 5 in the News Tribune correctly stated that we teach there is a stigma to postpartum depression (Local View: “
Postpartum mental health a community issue that lacks community awareness
”). The result? We deprive one another of the knowledge necessary to recognize it and treat it.
We are not professionally informed. What solutions are there? I'd prefer we address those taught and teaching there is a stigma, the harm they do, and the harm we do in repeating what they state.
