Since the healthcare reforms championed by Bill and Hillary Clinton during their first term, discussions on enhancing access and controlling costs have been deeply politicized, often filled with negative stereotypes. Opinions are widespread, yet many go unexamined.
In my business school classes, I urge students to look past sensational headlines, rhetoric, and oversimplified soundbites. Phrases such as “Insurance companies only seek profits” or “Doctors lack business understanding” are overly reductive and hinder a nuanced understanding of the complexities faced by patients and providers alike.
