Regional Celebrations for National Night Out Scheduled in August
Communities across our region are set to participate in the annual National Night Out on August 5th, an event designed to foster stronger connections between residents and local emergency services.
This nationwide initiative occurs every first Tuesday of August and aims to promote community safety and police-community relations.
Participating cities include Carterville, Cape Girardeau, and Mount Vernon.
Carterville's festivities will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cannon Park, featuring live music, giveaways, a dunk tank with officers, and demonstrations by a K-9 unit and AirMedCare Evac.
Cape Girardeau is hosting its event at Capaha Park, themed "Superhero Night Out," where attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite heroes. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will include music, food vendors, community activities, and opportunities to meet officers and view specialty police vehicles. Additionally, a back-to-school drive is underway; donations of school supplies or monetary contributions can earn participants a chance to dunk an officer.
Mount Vernon will hold its event at the Aquatic Zoo on August 6th...
