OROVILLE, Calif. - The Oroville Police Department says they arrested a 70-year-old registered sex offender following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving multiple minors. Gregory Alexander of Oroville was taken into custody on Wednesday, officials say.
The investigation began on Saturday, August 1, 2026, after police received a report of sexual abuse alleged to have occurred approximately 10 years ago. Detectives interviewed the reporting victim, who described multiple incidents of sexual abuse allegedly committed by Alexander when the victim was approximately four to six years old.
Detectives say they conducted numerous interviews and worked to corroborate information provided during the investigation. They reviewed school records, criminal justice records, sex-offender registration records and other investigative sources to verify reported timeframes and locations.
As the investigation continued, detectives identified additional individuals who reported alleged sexual misconduct involving Alexander when they were minors. One additional victim reported an incident alleged to have occurred in 2013, when she was approximately 14 years old.
