Registering motorcycles in Arizona will soon require license endorsement

New law goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2027

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Motorcycle owners who renew their registration must meet a new requirement in Arizona starting next year.

Any new registration will require at least one registered owner to have a motorcycle endorsement on their driver’s license, according to officials with the Arizona Department of Transportation.

It takes effect Jan. 1, 2027.

The new law does not apply to exclusively off-road motorcycles or motorcycles owned by a business, according to ADOT officials.

If registration is due after the law takes effect, ADOT may issue a one-time, temporary 30-day registration if the owner is enrolled in a qualified motorcycle training program.
