Patrick J. O’Brien, a longtime resident of South Abington Township, passed away peacefully at home on July 30th after battling a prolonged illness. Born in Scranton on March 7, 1953, he was the son of the late Dr. John P. O’Brien and Mary Baker O’Brien. He is survived by his cherished wife of 40 years, Anita B. O’Brien; his sons, P.J. O’Brien (Bethlehem) and John O’Brien with wife Shannon (Yardley); and grandchildren Rory, Jack, and Brooke. Patrick also leaves behind his sisters, Kay Draper, Margate, NJ; Chris Condon (John), Columbia, MD; and Susan Brink (Don), Moscow; along with brothers John O’Brien, Decatur, GA, and Dr. Thomas O’Brien, Jefferson Township, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Meg Rodgers (Hugh J), Jane McLaughlin (Richard), and Joseph O’Brien.
A graduate of Scranton Prep and the University of Scranton, Patrick dedicated most of his professional life as a manager at the Penguin Group.
