Share Add Us On Google Add as a preferred source on Google ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Fuel prices increased again this week, leaving some truck drivers facing higher operating costs as diesel tops $6 a gallon in Louisiana, according to AAA.
(KALB) Unleaded gasoline has also increased, now averaging more than $4 a gallon in Louisiana and nearing the national average of $4.48.
Curtis Wood, who has worked as a truck driver for nearly 10 years, said the rising costs have created a struggle for those in his industry.
“Prices of diesel have been outrageous,” Wood said. “It’s making it hard for truck drivers to go ahead and save money. I mean, the way it’s keep going up and up, it just doesn’t make a lot of sense.”
(KALB) Mark David Godwin, who is driving from Tyler, Texas, said average consumers will ultimately pay for more expensive fuel.
“I think inflation’s gonna eat us alive,” Godwin said. “I think that everything, no matter what it is, is hauled by truck; it’s gonna get pretty high. Everything’s higher, and it’s about to get higher if we can’t solve this problem.”
