As grocery expenses continue to rise, an increasing number of shoppers are turning to private label brands for savings. A recent survey conducted by Pollfish for Save A Lot, involving 600 consumers, found that 79% reported higher grocery costs over the past three months. Consequently, 55% are purchasing more store-brand products, cooking at home more frequently, and reducing indulgent treats.
To accommodate this shift, Save A Lot has introduced 55 new private-label items in the past year, including Mantia's Pizza Sauce, Kiggins Crunchy Peanut Butter Granola Bars, 12-pack Boardwalk sodas, and pet foods from Oliver & Scout. Sally Fatzinger, Vice President of Center Store at Save A Lot, emphasized the company's focus on balancing affordability with quality, stating, "Our value and quality proposition distinguishes our private-label offerings."
The survey also revealed that 40% of consumers are very likely to choose discount grocery stores due to rising food prices. "Shoppers are prioritizing value, influencing where they shop and what they purchase," Fatzinger added.
