Ross Harding Releases Dark Blues Reworking Of 'Seven Nation Army'

South African-born, UK-based artist Ross Harding has released his new single, ‘Seven Nation Army (Dark Blues Version)‘, a darker, more melancholic reimagining of The White Stripes’ early-2000s classic.

Harding was nine or ten when he first heard the song and was immediately struck by its instantly recognisable kick and guitar hook — a riff so powerful it almost functions as a chorus in its own right.

Like much blues-influenced music, however, Harding always heard something more melancholic beneath the surface. His version brings that lamenting quality forward, exploring the song from a darker and more soulful perspective while retaining the hypnotic power of the original.

The track was self-produced by Ross Harding, with mastering by Lorne McGregor, and continues Harding’s developing Dark Blues sound — rooted in blues while drawing heavily from rock and darker, atmospheric production.

An accompanying DIY music video captures elements of the actual recording process alongside moody textures and visual overlays, reflecting the raw, self-produced nature of the release.
