Rowan County Commissioners to Review Lake Dredging Feasibility Study and Other Agenda Items
The Rowan County Board of Commissioners is set to review the final feasibility study on dredging High Rock Lake during their upcoming meeting on Monday. Since early 2024, Geosyntec Consultants has been analyzing the potential for sediment removal, following a joint funding effort by Davidson and Rowan counties totaling around $300,000. The upcoming report will outline estimated costs associated with dredging efforts aimed at alleviating sediment buildup, particularly in the northern regions of the lake, such as Swearing and Crane creeks. According to prior communications from Geosyntec, ongoing sediment accumulation poses a risk of clogging the Swearing and Crane Creek coves, which could obstruct access to the lake and disrupt flood water flow into High Rock Lake. The meeting, scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Rowan County Administration Building located at 130 W. Innes Street in Salisbury, will also cover other agenda items.
