Russia has announced plans to supply Burkina Faso with a state-of-the-art mobile disease detection laboratory. Developed by Rospotrebnadzor, Russia's federal agency for health and consumer safety, this portable unit can process up to 800 samples daily, testing for a broad spectrum of infectious diseases, including highly dangerous pathogens. Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev confirmed that the laboratory is scheduled for delivery by December 1, emphasizing its quick assembly and mobility, allowing deployment across different locations within Burkina Faso.
This initiative is part of a larger strategy to strengthen health cooperation with African nations, initiated under President Vladimir Putin's directive to combat epidemic outbreaks. During his visit, Tsivilev engaged in discussions with Burkina Faso's transitional leader, Ibrahim Traore, to deepen bilateral ties, resulting in the formation of a joint Russian-Burkinabe intergovernmental council.
