Upcoming Salisbury City Council Meeting to Decide on Landmark Property Transfers and Urban Development Projects
SALISBURY — The Salisbury City Council is set to review and potentially approve the formal sale of key local landmarks during their upcoming meeting on Tuesday.
One of the main agenda items is a public hearing regarding the sale of the historic Plaza to the Wallace Family. Known formerly as the Wallace Building, this structure has been under city ownership since 1989 when Ralph and Anne Kenter acquired and restored it through a partnership. The building, a notable city landmark dating back to its ownership by the Wallaces from 1914 to 1961, has faced restoration challenges over the decades.
The Wallaces have expressed interest in purchasing the property for $2.2 million, with a requirement to invest at least an additional $7.3 million in renovations. The agreement stipulates that renovations must be completed within five years, and existing tenants are to be relocated within six months of sale closure.
