Southern Appalachian Labor School's Housing Initiatives
The Southern Appalachian Labor School (SALS) is actively pursuing grant opportunities to enhance its housing initiatives within Fayette County and neighboring census tracts across Raleigh, Clay, Nicholas, and Kanawha counties.
Partnerships and Funding Efforts
As part of this effort, SALS and its affiliated housing entities—SALS Housing and Coalfield Housing—are applying for Housing Preservation Grant funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Program.
Objective of the Grants
The objective is to support very low-income homeowners in rural areas by funding repairs and rehabilitation projects, according to an official press statement.
