San Diego Homeless Dental Care Expansion Fueled by Grant

San Diego-based organization Father Joe’s Villages has announced an expansion of its dental services for the homeless community, thanks to a $150,000 grant from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation. Since 1987, their Village Health Center has been providing essential dental care, serving thousands annually. With increasing homelessness and rising oral health needs, the demand has exceeded available resources. The new funding will enable the clinic to offer 203 additional free denture-related appointments, marking a 27% rise in yearly visits, and assist at least 52 new patients in obtaining full or partial dentures—a 30% increase over previous targets. Over the next year, approximately 145 more individuals are expected to access dental services, ensuring that a quarter of the 4,000 patients served each year receive at least one dental treatment. Services encompass preventive care, fillings, crowns, root canals, extractions, and emergency procedures, all delivered with compassionate professionalism.
